12 Months

Kaylee is now 12 months old. It is so very crazy. Time is a weird thing because she has only been here a year, but it feels like life before her seems almost like a dream. She is now a walking machine. She walks about as fast as she can crawl. In fact crawling is almost a thing of the past Since she started walking, when she would fall she would crawl to something to stand up to walk again, but now that she can stand up anywhere crawling rarely happens. She really is pleased with herself. She tries to run away sometimes but can't quiet do it yet. She also has learned how to scowl which is kind funny. She likes to bite everything with her front teeth. It feels like she will be having a back tooth soon.

Taking Bryce to the Airport

Bryce got the great opportunity to go Sweden, this summer, with 148 other LDS scouts to the scout world jamboree. Which was a big deal because it was the first of its kind where a whole group was LDS and he loves Sweden. They had a booth and sang for the whole jamboree. And my mom, Kaylee, and I got to take him to the airport. It was kind of fun to see him getting ready and everything. And so here are some pictures of us hanging out around the airport.

Cuteness in Tennessee

So while we were in Tennessee Kaylee got the play the piano by herself and with her grandpa.

She got to eat a pig. And enjoy some flowers.

She got to play with her great aunt. And walk around with her grandparents.

And of course after all her playing and fun she had to get clean.

Labor Day

Every year on labor day Abe's family has this stew thing. Their friends and family come and eat and talk and Abe's dad's band played bluegrass. It was fun. Kaylee was passed around and she loved it. There was this one potato salad that was way good, but we couldn't figure out who made it so I couldn't get the recipe which made me sad. Abe enjoyed himself it has been years since he was able to be there for it.

Caramel Popcorn Owls

So way back in the day like before I was really old enough to remember anything, I guess my whole family would make these caramel popcorn ball owls. Well we decided to do this again and give them to my grandmother's great grand-kids on Halloween. Now since it's been so long since these have been made and we couldn't find my grandma's caramel recipe, we decided to do a trial run to make sure that they would turn out ok.

Below you can see our air popper and all the popcorn that we popped.

So I forgot to take pictures of making the caramel, but we made it and it tasted fine. Then we poured it on the popcorn while stirring. And then we buttered our hands and made big balls and then smaller balls and stacked them.

Now we decorate. So you're suppose to cut an orange slice in half and they are the wings and that went fine. And then you do the eyes with life savers and nibs in the middle and that went fine. And then you're suppose to take black licorice string and cross them to make the eyebrows and beak and now that did not work.

So it was pretty much a big fail. They just didn't work. The licorice would not stick and yeah it was frustrating. So before we started decorating the balls, Nykol looked at them and ask if we were making snowman. And since the owls didn't work so well I decided to try a snowman with what we had. It looks stupid but I think it could work. I need to find something for a hat but this might work in the future. Also we are not giving this to the grand-kids we have a different plan now. Here is the snowman.
