Payson Scottish Festival Part 1

So last Saturday, July 9th, Abe, Kaylee, my mom, and me went to Payson Scottish Festival. It was it's 28th year and I hadn't heard about it until this year. I don't know why that is because it was really enjoyable and people go. There was a few different things to do/look at the festival. First there are booths set up for a bunch of the different Scottish clans. And if you trace Abe's blood line back he comes from the MacGregor clan. They were shady people and did something to make a political party/king angry and they had to stop going by MacGregor. If they did let people know who they were the woman were branded, children sold to slavery, and the men beheaded on the spot.

There was also some yummy food. They had some of the normal stuff like pulled pork, funnel cakes, and homemade root beer. They also had some less than normal food items as you can see the list below. Abe did get corn beef and cabbage, but when he went back to get some haggis, it was gone. I would have never thought they would have run out of stomach to feed people. Oh and they also had some really yummy Italian ice.

They were also booths to buy things and music play and people dancing. We saw a Santa dressed in green, which made me happy.  All in all it was really fun.

Here are some pictures that Abe has taken of Kaylee and edited.

Third and Final Day of 4th of July Weekend

For the final day of the weekend, the 4th itself, we went to my aunt Sylvia's house. A bunch of family was there, water for the kids to play in and food. We tried putting Kaylee in the water, but it was way too cold for her and she didn't like it at all. She played with some cousins and really enjoy just being around people. She also really enjoy the little table. Sadly though I ended up not feeling so well this day so we didn't stay the whole time and missed out on the games that were played, but I hear they were really fun.

So when we went home I took a nap and when I woke up I felt a whole lot better, but was super bummed out that I missed a lot of the fun. So to try to make up for it we went to the store to buy cake mix to make this daring cake. We bought the mix, but didn't end up making the cake. And after we put Kaylee to sleep, Abe and I watched fireworks outside our apartment. All in all I really had a nice pleasant 4th of July.

Day Two of 4th of July Weekend

So Sunday we woke up half dead and sore, but we still made it to church. Afterwards we went to my grandma's for dinner. We had steak, bake potatoes, corn on the cob, and strawberry short cake. It was all really yummy. Then we just napped and hung around until it got dark. We then went out and lit some fireworks. Kaylee stayed awake this time. She enjoy them all, but the sparklers were her favorite.  Below are just some picture of the evening. Notice Kaylee's hat hair, it makes me laugh.

Day One of 4th of July Weekend

I will be posting a lot of pictures with this post so beware. So to start off the weekend we dressed Kaylee in her sailor outfit. We didn't put her in her red white and blue yet because we didn't want it to get dirty and her not get to wear it to the Stadium of Fire. And then we headed to the booths on Center street. I have no picture of that, but it was way too hot for the three of us. But we did get some amazing cotton candy, some corn, and Kaylee's super cute fairy Halloween costume.

So we parked across the street from Brick Oven to walk to Stadium of Fire. We had to then walk to the stadium as you can see below.

This picture below is the stadium about when we got there.
It wasn't long before the stadium looked like this.

Kaylee really enjoyed herself. I was a little worried about how she would handle this. She usually doesn't stay up this late and it's loud. So we got her ear plugs for the sound and she didn't seem to mind too much about the lateness.  She smiled, chatted with those around us and danced a whole lot. She stay awake for almost the whole entire event.

Almost super cute until she flung her arms.

This year at Stadium of Fire David Archuleta and Brad Paisley came. It was way better than last year which was just boring and horrible. This year it was more patriotic, this music was upbeat, and its was just more enjoyable.  We sat by nice people who didn't mind Kaylee. Oh and I should say that we is Abe, my mom, my cousin Lindsey, and myself and of course Kaylee. Brad Paisley was just a lot of fun. I am really glad we went this year and I hope next year is good as well.

Now on to the fireworks. They were amazing this year. Who ever was in charge of coordinating the music with the fireworks did a fabulous job. The timing was prefect, the songs fit just right, and they were cool. They new songs with Katy Perry's "Firework" and also slowed things down with Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World" and classical music with the "Flight of the Bumblebee" and so much more. I was way impressed.

When the fireworks started she stopped dancing and started to zone, then she passed out.
